You don't have to pay for an urgent service to get your apostille, you can do it yourself. The State of Illinois processes all documents on a first-come, first-served basis.

Documents issued by another state cannot be apostilled by the state of Illinois. They must be apostilled from the same issuing country. Documents issued by the federal government to individuals or companies based in Illinois must obtain the apostille from the U.S. Department of State.

An apostille may be placed on original documents issued in the state of Illinois that bear the official signature and seal of a valid mandatory notary, current Illinois State Registrar, Probate Judge, or a document issued by one of Illinois's state departments.
